6 months old!
Last week my mom and sister were supposed to come visit with us in Radford. When they arrived it wasn't less than 24 hours before they were on their way back and I along with them. See, Jonathan came down with a bad stomach virus and I basically threw out my back. So there I was packing our bags to go back and have some much needed R&R while Jonathan was left to recoup and relax without daddy duties. Oh-Ian came with me :) We had a rejuvenating time with family. Ian had a lot of fun with my parents and sister and my back got a lot better after a few days of rest and not carrying my active little 6 month old. I loved having so much help but even more I treasured the incredible bonding time I had with Ian. These pictures were taken at the lake near my parents house. My sister Charlotte, an art student at VCU (and very good photographer), took most of them. More pictures to come.
I have to say that the 6 month stage is by far the most exciting and fun stage of Ian so far! He is sooooo active and curious.
Mommy and me time.

2008 so far...
An update on Ian....
Ian has started to crawl. It is not the official 'on your knees and hands' crawl that most expect but nevertheless, he makes it from one end of a room to another fairly quickly in his own little way. He is also sitting up (fairly sturdy) on his own now. He had his first bath in the kitchen sink this afternoon (which is much easier on mommy's back than bending over the bathtub). He is also eating sweet potatoes and occasionally pears. He loves both. Next week is a big week for Ian...he is turning 6 months old on Wednesday! I can't believe our baby boy is a half a year old already. To commemorate this event, it just so happens that he will be taking his first swimming class that very day (it's a mommy and me water aerobics class in Blacksburg and we are very excited about it!). I can not tell you how much love and joy Ian has brought to me and Jonathan's lives. We are absolutely loving parenthood. We do a lot together...grocery stores, malls, out to dinner, walks, etc...we find that it is more fun and fulfilling doing things such as these as a family. It is also a joy to do these things with Ian because he is such a people person. He loves meeting new people...loves interaction 24-7! He's definitely not one of those babies that is content to just sit and play with toys or observe things going on...he has to be in on the action. He is intrigued and interested in EVERYTHING. Ian also just loves being in different places. On days where it is too cold to get out and about and we are at home it doesn't take long before he wants a change of scenery.
Ok so I will stop there. Even though I have so much to say about my little boy. He's awesome. What an amazing gift.
I will post some 6 month pictures sometime soon.... stay tuned!
